Working in the web design field is wonderful. Nearly everything we do is electronic, so we’re not constrained by traditional barriers to business such as shipping costs, geographic limits, sales taxes, fuel prices, and other challenges when selling “physical products.”
One of the biggest benefits of being an internet business is that we get to build websites for happy clients all over the country, and even the world. The map below shows just some (but not all) of the locations of the clients we’ve done work for over the past 20+ years and as you can see, even though we’re based in Colorado Springs, a significant portion of our clients are not. (We even have some clients in Australia!)
We’re able to design, develop, and market websites for companies all over the map because most of the tools we use are available online. For example, we make phone calls to clients anywhere for super-cheap using our VoIP phone system, we meet with them virtually via GoToMeeting, we have video chats using Skype, we share files back and forth using Dropbox, we accept payments online via Authorize.net, and we manage our projects with Basecamp. We even have some staff members that don’t regularly work in our office, but work remotely from the East Coast.
